In celebration of the opening of her Madison Avenue boutique, here are the tunes the Parisian jewelry designer has on repeat.
Beloved by the likes of Beyonce, Jessica Chastain and Naomi Watts, jewelry designer Aurelie Bidermann’s bohemian baubles are as much a reflection of her Parisian roots as her jet-setting ways. From her colorful, chunky Do Brasil braided bracelets to her delicate American Indian feather charms, Bidermann’s fascination with the world around her shines through in her designs. Her latest muse? New York City, also home to her newest bijoux-filled boutique.
“It’s electric here,” says Bidermann, who debuted her inaugural Manhattan location in SoHo in 2014. Yet her love for the city can be traced back as far as 1999, when, armed with a master’s degree in art history, a young Bidermann got her career start at Sotheby’s. And though she hopped the pond again a few years later to study gemology and eventually launch her namesake jewelry line, Bidermann has continued to feel the pull of the Big Apple.

“I love that each neighborhood has its own feeling and atmosphere; it’s very much like Paris in that sense,” says Bidermann, who set her sights on the Upper East Side for her latest brick-and-mortar. To fete the Madison Avenue location, she also crafted an exclusive fine-jewelry capsule collection featuring pearls playfully reimagined as animals, and, in a nod to her tony new surroundings and love of symbols, a whimsical Big Apple motif.
“I’m inspired just walking the streets and parks of New York. It’s a city that’s very conducive to creative energy,” says Bidermann. Here’s what she’s listening to along the way.
