This Is The Most Searched Designer Of 2016, According To Google

Drumroll, please. Google’s list of the most searched fashion designers is out. And it’s clear to see which creatives made headlines this year. Heavy hitters like Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent’s former creative director Heidi Slimane weren’t in the mix. Instead, celebrities who have clothing lines took over the list.

Rachel Roy came in at number one. The American fashion designer learned the ins and outs of the business as an intern at Rocawear, a label co-founded by Jay Z. Her designs include smart work-ready pieces and sexy silhouettes that are all affordable. Right behind Roy are our favorite twins: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. The ladies cofounded The Row, a high-end clothing line where you’ll find classic turtlenecks and leggings priced at more than $1,000. The Olsen twins are also seeing huge success with their mid-tier brand Elizabeth and James. In addition to their fashion ventures, the launch of Fuller House on Netflix could have also played a role in spiking the internet’s interest in the multi-talented twins.

Pastry designer Angela Simmons ranked third on the list. It’s likely the excitement around her firstborn child this year gave her a boost in search. Coming in fourth, Zendaya had two major debuts in 2016. First, her shoe line Daya by Zendaya earned her the “Launch of the Year” award, and she extended her brand with a gender-fluid clothing line. Kendall and Kylie Jenner rounded up the top five. Their Kendall + Kylie clothing and eyewear collections are two of our faves.

Beyoncé owned 2016, and the launch of her sporty Ivy Park fashion line landed her in sixth place. The chart-topping singer was followed by one of Kate Middleton‘s favorite designers Anita Dongre. The beloved Sonia Rykiel, who passed away in August, came in as the eighth most searched designer. And Ivanka Trump took the ninth spot, while Kanye West completed the list at number ten.
