Louis Tomlinson‘s mom has passed away, E! News confirms. She was 42.

Johannah Deakin died after a long battle with leukemia early Wednesday. “It is with immeasurable sadness that Johannah Deakin’s family said goodbye to Johannah in the early hours of Wednesday 7th December 2016,” a statement from her family reads. “Earlier this year Johannah was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukaemia that required immediate and continuous treatment. We respectfully request that the family are given time and space to grieve in private.”

Deakin would have been 43 next Friday. In addition to Louis, Deakin leaves behind six other children, Lottie, 18, Felicité, 16, twins Daisy and Phoebe, 12, and twins Ernest and Doris, 2, whom she gave birth to in 2014. Felicité tweeted an emoji of a broken heart Thursday.

The former One Direction singer was previously scheduled to perform on The X Factor Saturday, and the 24-year-old crooner reportedly is going to keep his commitment in honor of his mother’s final wish.

Louis, who became a father to a son named Freddie in January, posted a tribute on Instagram to his mom two weeks ago. “My mother looking gorgeous before the Brits earlier this year. I love you and miss you so much!” he wrote.

Louis’ close relationship with his mom was no secret, as he often brought her as his date to public events. He also shared several photos of her on his social media pages, giving fans a good look at one of his biggest role models.

Deakin often showed her support for her son and the former members of One Direction. When Louis tweeted his congratulations to Niall Horan on his first single, Deakin retweeted it on her account.

Liam Payne‘s girlfriend Cheryl Fernandez-Versini tweeted her condolences.

“@Louis_Tomlinson my heart breaks for you. I am so sorry,” she wrote. “My thoughts are with you and your loved ones at this incredibly tragic time.”

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Louis and his family.
